CALFKICKS RECORDS
CALFKICKS RECORDS was founded in 2023 by Jiro T. on the Gold Coast, Australia. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he was active in Tokyo and Sapporo as the guitarist and vocalist of the hard-mix rock band UPPER SOUL BREAK. After many years away from music, his passion was reignited in 2023 when he attended a concert by Japanese rock legends Guitar Wolf in Australia. Their raw energy, loud guitars and fearless rock and roll spirit inspired him to pick up his guitar and start creating again.
In 2024, The Calfkicks was born. Inspired by Quentin Tarantino films, vintage surf rock, garage rock and classic film soundtracks, the project combined loud instrumental guitars, mysterious masks and cinematic visuals. With no traditional singer, the guitars became the voice. In 2025, The Calfkicks produced two music videos, Garage King and KENDAMA, further developing its own musical and visual identity.
In March 2026, the story came full circle when The Calfkicks performed as the opening act for Guitar Wolf at Vinnie's Dive Bar on the Gold Coast. Just three years after being inspired by the band, Jiro found himself sharing the stage with them. But the experience sparked something new. Guitar Wolf's speed, simplicity and uncompromising energy inspired him to take his music in a darker, faster and more direct direction.
In April 2026, CALFKICKS SURF BREAKER was formed — a three-piece instrumental surf rock project built around a simple idea: three players, fast music, loud guitars and no unnecessary complications. Combining dark surf rock, garage rock and raw rock and roll energy, the trio introduced a new chapter with the release of Run and Break Out.
Today, CALFKICKS RECORDS continues to evolve as an independent creative platform for music, film and visual storytelling. Not limited to one band, one sound or one direction, it is a world where new ideas and projects can grow without boundaries. Everything begins with an idea, a guitar, a sound, a camera and a story. Wherever the music takes us, the story continues.
